Greenriver Belle

Original tree found growing in the wild near the Green River in Hart County, Kentucky, selected by Carol Friedman in 1998 "for large and luscious fruits," reports Nolin River Nut Tree Nursery. "I think of it has having a very bright flavor, and I know several locals that this one ist he hands-down favorite," says Derek Morris. "Fruits are almost identical to PA-Golden in size and shape though not quite as productive. Unfortunately, not very large-fruited, rather seedy, and fruits do not keep for long before losing quality." Ron Powell reports little to no Phyllosticta. "My favorite because of its firmer texture," he says. "Some have reported a cinnamon aftertaste."
