Prima 1216 is currently the only reliably self-fertile pawpaw variety. Sunflower is partially self-fertile and an unreleased selection by Tom Wahl at Red Fern Farm may also be self fertile.Found by Domenico Montanari, a selection of 2000 seeds (from Corwin Davis of the USA) gave the variety Prima with the number 1216. Big fruit, golden flesh. Ripens mid season. According to Cliff England they don't consume it because of some off flavors.
